Agrarian Forum of Ukraine:
Investments&Innovations With the support of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine
The leaders of the Ukrainian agricultural engineering industry have become aware of the need, in the 21st century, to upgrade and invest in developing modern machinery and mechanisms to put Ukrainian agricultural engineering in a leading position in Europe and the world. Today, as we move towards 2010, the time has come to look at the prospects for developing innovation.
For the first time, the Agrarian Forum, which will focus on the subject of Investments and Innovations, will take place alongside Kiev AgriHort 2010 — International Agriculture and Horticulture Exhibition. Ukraine’s economic and social development is not possible without the introduction of innovative production and agricultural technologies. Today, the agricultural industry is one of the few sectors of the Ukrainian economy that is showing stable growth, but it needs investment and state support. «Today, we need urgent and clear objectives for developing the agricultural industry, and to provide food security. Developing the agricultural industry is a way of escaping the economic crisis for the whole of Ukraine,» says Nicolay Prisyazhnyuk, head of the Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations of Ukraine. It’s no secret that the economic development of our country is dependent on moving to a model of innovation, and that will require significant investment, which the country must attract and use sensibly. In addition to developing innovation in the agricultural sector, output must be increased, Ukraine must enter new markets, and businesses must adapt to the market environment. According to experts, introducing scientific and technical innovations will lead to capital renewals, an increase in the technological level of the industry, and an increase in the competitiveness of domestic agricultural enterprises.
The main task of the forum will be to develop a strategy of investment and technological development for the Ukrainian agricultural industry. Among the most pressing issues to be discussed at the forum are:
- The development of the agricultural sector
- The technical upgrade the Ukrainian agricultural industry
- Introducing the latest production technologies for crop and livestock sector products
- Increasing Ukraine’s investment rating
The forum will also include open discussions and round tables with leading specialists from Ukraine and other countries.
The Agrarian Forum will be attended by representatives of the agricultural industry’s regulatory bodies; agrarian professional associations; crop and livestock sector producers; analysts; breeders; representatives of consultancy, financial, investment and insurance companies; manufacturers of agricultural equipment and fertilisers; and representatives of Ukrainian and international media organisations.
