Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine increased the forecast of grain exports

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine increased own forecast of grain exports in the current marketing year (July 2009 — June 2010) from the level of 20 mln tonnes to 22 mln tonnes, declared Juri Lusan, the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy, on February 12.

According to him, from the beginning of the current MY, Ukraine exported over 17 mln tonnes of grains, up nearly 1 mln tonnes compared to the same period of 2008/09 MY.

As a reminder, according to the preliminary data of the State committee of statistics of Ukraine, in 2009, the country harvested 46 mln tonnes of grains and leguminous plants in clean weight, down 13.7% compared to 2008.

Previously, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasted the index of grain exports in the current MY at the level of nearly 20 mln tonnes as opposed to 25.2 mln tonnes in 2008/09 MY.
